Andranofasika Community and Environmental Center: Fostering Community Collaboration and Environmental Protection

This initiative aims to establish a dedicated community and historical center in Andranofasika, a town situated in the northwestern region of Madagascar, approximately 110 km away from Mahajanga and adjacent to Parc National Andranofasika.

Andranofasika boasts robust local community groups committed to preserving and nurturing the forests and environment surrounding the national park, as well as a thriving educational community. However, a significant challenge these groups face is the absence of a suitable gathering space. Both student and adult groups lack a conducive location for their activities and meetings, making collaborative efforts on local issues a challenging endeavor.

In collaboration with the local environmental club, Growing Madagascar's Trees, and the community's English club, ZARASOA intends to address the gap between motivated community coalitions and meeting space. The establishment of the Andranofasika Community and Environmental Center will provide a vital space for the community to come together and work collectively on local initiatives. Moving forward, the center's maintenance and management will be undertaken by Growing Madagascar's Trees on a voluntary basis by our community counterpart, ensuring its sustainability and continued support for the community's endeavors.
