In Madagascar, access to clean water is the exception — not the norm. Many people regularly walk more than a kilometer, or over half a mile, to collect water from wells and surface water sources that are often contaminated. Left without other options, this water makes people chronically sick — students miss school days, adults miss work, and medical bills stack up.
Rainwater harvesting provides a simple, cost-effective and climate-friendly way to expand access to clean water. Built by our team of local masons, our systems provide reliable water for homes, schools, and other community facilities. Since ZARASOA was established in 2023, our rainwater harvesting systems have improved daily life for hundreds of people. When basic needs are met, people have more time and energy to focus on their families, their education, and their communities.
